Nike’s Air Trainer 1 started life as a game-changing cross training model that helped kick off a new genre of sneakers. Bo knew, but possibly just as important John McEnroe knew as well. The cross-platform model was seen in gyms, tracks and even tennis courts. So it was no surprise that over time the Air Trainer 1 made its way onto skateboarder’s feet. Nike SB took the Air Trainer 1, and some of it’s descendant’s into their catalog and this “Bamboo” build is one of the most popular.
Release in 2006 the “Bamboo” nickname came from the official color code of Bamboo/Black. And those two colors are very prominent on the body of the transformed skate model. But the addition of bright blue suede with yellow on the various branding spots are what the “Bamboos” are most known for. Factory laced with black laces, optional matching blue laces were often chosen as well as yellow is a popular lace swap choice. With added cushioning to the liner and tongue along with the Zoom Air insoles, you could see these both at the skatepark and around town. Very rare to find in deadstock condition now, how do you feel about the Air Trainer 1 “Bamboo”?
