It might not be easy being green, but Kermit the Frog has had no trouble translating into a fresh pair of kicks time and time again. In 2011 Disney was set to release the first theatrical Muppets film since the 90’s. For this occasion the movie studio called upon their friends at adidas to aid in helping promote the feature film. The two created a special pack of sneakers made to draw attention to the movie’s release with the fan favorite being the Superstar II based after popular frog.

The Muppets started as a variety show conducted by the genius mind of Jim Henson. Kermit the Frog headlined Henson’s show since day 1. For many decades he has been the ringleader and host of the Muppets universe, his stage presence and personality has charmed million of viewers of all ages over the years. From the small screen to cartoon to the big screen, there are many memorable Muppets’ characters but Kermit is their franchise’s Mickey Mouse.
This pair of Superstar II’s consisted of a green suede body with contrast lime green accents on the stripes and sole. White takes care of the interior, shell toe and midsole, keep the look very classic. The unique addition of “The Original Hip Hop” is found printed right above the stripes in gold. What makes this pair really pop is the use of a green felt around the tongue that matches Kermit’s collar. Finishing off the Kermit sneakers are special insoles that we see the
man frog himself appearing on along with his signature. Adidas’ character-themed releases are second-to-none in the sneaker industry, especially with Disney, and this pair was no exception to the case.
