While many people are getting over a food hangover or shopping for some crazy sneaker deals and releases, one sneaker fan will be blowing out the candles on a cake. Former NBA player and Dunk Champion Dee Brown celebrates a birthday today. Known for pumping up his Reebok Pump Omni Lite’s before his 1991 Dunk contest dunks, he helped ensure that kids and adults wanted a pair of black/white/orange Pumps in their closet.
The black/white-orange build is one of the most recognized Reeboks ever. The upper done up in mostly black tumbled leather with white accenting the body and ankle. Orange basketball pump on the tongue and logo’s make this a look that doesn’t need to be worn with a Celtic’s uniform to work. The look so popular that Reebok has re-released it a few times including this Cyber Monday, the second time in 2013.
The small guard had a solid NBA career, but his dunk contest victory in ’91 was one of the most memorable in contest history. Now a member of the Sacramento Kings family along with Shaquille O’ Neal, we wonder if small Kings guard, and Reebok athlete, Isaiah Thomas plans to pump up a pair and throw down a dunk for his coach’s birthday.
