In the sneaker world one Amsterdam is known for some great sneaker boutiques and artists. Many times the two go hand in hand. Much is the case of Parra aka Pieter Jassen, who utilizes his artistic flair to not only work on a variety of art mediums, but his own clothing line and designs on footwear. In 2009 Parra put his touch on a few different models including helping with some Air Max runners and the Vans Era featured here.
Parra x Vans Era uploaded by kid_sneakerness
The Vans Era was actually part of a three-piece pack that released that year. The classics were chosen; the Era, Chukka and SK8-Hi. For the design of this pack Parra didn’t stray far from his artwork that is generally made up of hand drawn characters done up in colors seen on the sneaker. For the Era it all starts off with white base to go alongside his signature colors of bright blue, pink and orange. Mostly canvas with a small hint of leather used on the low-cut model, we see Parra’s recognizable signature on the tongue as well as a note from Parra, “Don’t Forget to Actually Skate in These!,” on one insole, “Parra wears Vans” on the other.
Bringing his artwork onto the sneaker, each of the three sneakers stood out on their own. But unlike the other two that relied on prints, the Era stood strong with its bold Parra colors. A special set we are missing the Chukka and SK8-Hi from the wiki and would love to have someone upload them.
