Released in September 2003, the classic Nike SB Dunk High “Iron” is a great looking sneaker that we would put it up with many of today’s current releases. Part of the famed “silver box” era of Nike SB, this version of the Dunk High stood out amongst its peers. Also it’s perfect to talk about these as the NFL season just kicked off and they were inspired by the Detroit Lions.

Sneakers nowadays get nicknames from all-over, but not sure if the “Lions” would have stuck. So the nickname came straight from the official colorway of the sneaker, Iron/Sport Royal-White. The body done up in nappy grey (Iron) suede. An interesting look as the nearly the entire upper besides the tongue is in suede, not a regular sight on the Dunk. Competing the Lions look is the addition of accent in the form of an Sport Royal Swoosh, tongue tag and skate laces (additional grey laces were also included). Another interesting feature to these were the omission of the normal white midsoles and matching grey featured atop a gum bottom.
The look was so popular that just recently a low version of the Dunk was released in very similar looks but with a lighter blue added. Whether you are a Lions fan or not, these Dunk High’s are still high on many sneakerholics list for its solid build and clean colorway.
