With a name like “Bushwhackers”, you would think that it was a major part in the design of the shoe, but nothing could be further from the truth. According to Sneaker Freaker, “We didn’t even have a nifty name til the last possible moment”. Despite the lack of a coherent theme from the beginning, the SF team brought their “A” game when it came time to lock down the design. Desert sand and mint green take the front seat as far as colors go and help to make a lasting first impression. After those, black suede and a satin black lining provide the base of the sneaker and play well the black speckled white midsole. As a more rugged runner, the team incorporated a diamond mesh at the toe and elastic bungee cords for efficiency. Finally, the team added custom insoles with the Sneaker Freaker logo to give it a personal touch.
With various outdoor-sy overtones and the respect for the work, the Sneaker Freaker x Saucony Grid 9000 “Bushwhackers” were quickly snatched up when they released. Considering that Saucony growing profile in today’s sneaker world, these would be even more popular should they have released this year. Here is to hoping that Saucony continues to push out quality collaborations like this one and the upcoming collaboration with Play Cloths.
