If when you think about the Ronnie Fieg x ASICS GT II “Ultra Marine” you also think about Bibiana Julian, we wouldn’t blame you. Back in 2011 when images of the shoe started to hit the web, Ronnie Feig took out the trusty camera, grabbed a sample size pair of the ASICS GT II “Ultra Marine”, and brought swimwear model, Bibiana Julian, to the beach to capture the moment.

“I’ve been working on for 3 years and have been extremely patient going back and forth on samples until I got back a pair I felt was the one” said Ronnie Fieg. The man takes his work seriously. After a string of very successful collaborations, Ronnie had come to a point where it was time for him to spread his wings, and with each new release, his status as a taste maker grew. With a firm grasp on the current sneaker world, Ronnie went to work on the ASICS GT II “Ultra Marine”, making sure to provide a premium experience when it comes to the shoes materials.

Starting with a pig skin upper, Ronnie wanted to be sure to capture the vivid blue of the Ultra Marine hue and knew that suede wouldn’t do it. Bringing in Aqua to offset the brighter blue, Ronnie used it over the tongue logo as well as the ASICS stripes with a white backing to mirror the outsole. As for the release, well, it was like most we have seen in the past with people lining up the day before to make sure they copped a pair. According to Ronnie, the line was 45 deep at 9:15 and had grown to at least 65 by the time DavidZ opened at 10 am. A quick seller we expect the lucky #sneakerholics who have these to rock them during the Summer.
