Back in 2011, Boston-based Bodega, or BDGA, as they are better known, celebrated their 5th anniversary. Like most sneaker boutiques, anniversaries often mean a collaboration with a brand on a sneaker that not only details the vision of the store, but the quality and style of the store owners. With a huge selection of shoes to choose from, the boys at Bodega went with the Nike Footscape.
Far from its origins back in the 1990s as a complementary runner, the Nike Footscape has taken a more luxury route with its styling and material make-up. From suede, to leather, to knitted uppers, the Footscape is better known for its Tier Zero status and avante garde styling then its comfort. However, it is due to the style and look of the Footscape that it has managed to miss the ire of #sneakerholics as a hybrid sneaker. The anatomical look of the sneaker is better suited for adventurous design and with models like the Footscape Motion Woven and the Woven Chukka.

For the collaboration with Bodega, the boutique addressed the Footscape Woven Chukka in particular as a mid. Referred to as the “Night Cats”, the sneaker blended various suedes over the upper with woven textures the extend from the toe to the heel. Color choices are kept minimal and remain safely within the brown to tan color spectrum most often seen on the cats of the night. Building on the pack, the collection also included two other Wovens to celebrate the event. As with the Woven Chukka, the Woven Motions makes use of the shoes anatomical design and side-lacing to incorporate leather and suede to create a truly unique look that transcends the running category.

As a statement, Bodega surely took the less traveled path to celebrate their 5th anniversary and as #sneakerholic, we think it paid off and gave us a new style and silhouette to add to our collection. We are still looking for the Nike Air Footscape Motion Woven TZ in Hazelnut/Grit-Black on the wiki. If anyone can upload those gems it would be greatly appreciated.
