Nike SB Dunk Low “Lunar Eclipse” Pack

2006 was a very important year for the Nike Skateboarding line. Nike SB line had an excellent following for their original ideas on sneaker designs. This Nike division was highly praised for thinking outside the box and having fun with what ever they released; The Nike SB Dunk Low “Lunar Eclipse” pack added to the extensive catalog of successful builds. The Lunar pack was made to coincide with the Lunar eclipse of March 29th, 2006. What made this pack very unique was that it was meant to resemble the process and color gradient of the eclipse. James Keoni Arizumi came up with the idea to make the two pairs of clean sneakers to coincide with the theme. So the results were two versions that were created utilizing the same inspiration but looking different.  Continue reading

Asics x We Sold Out! GT-II

Before Ronnie Fieg’s work with Asics started to take off and turned the sneaker world upside down, Paris super-store Colette linked with their former internet counterpart, We Sold Out! put together a rather stunning set of GT-II’s. Also thrown into the designing picture was design firm, and close friends, La MJC. This build of the Asics model feature a mix of suede, nylon and exotic leather, each placed and colored expertly. Though is happens rarely these days, the 2008 Asics x Sold out GT-II was sold with a scarf echoing the white, blue, black, and red  colors of the silhouette.  Continue reading

Sneaker Spotlight: Nike SB Dunk Low Pro “Gino”

Nike SB Dunk Low Pro "Gino"

Whether or not the 2002 Dunk Low “Gino” was the first Nike SB Dunk to release, the model stands as one of the first from the budding unit within the Nike confines. Colored by skateboarder Gino lannucci, the model featured a mix of black sued and leather on the upper with plenty of perforations throughout. Black laces help to hide the dark stitching, while the Nike Swoosh on the side panel remains very visible in grey.  Continue reading

Nike SB Dunk Low Pro "Takashi"

The Nike SB Dunk Low Pro “Takashi” was first released in March of 2003 as part of the third “pack” of colorways that also releases of the “Futura’s”, “Bison’s”, and the third Dunk High “Hulks.” Designed and named after the famous Japanese singer Takashi Hosokawa, these sneakers featured a much more simpler approach to color palettes and use of different materials. Though many #sneakerholics in America may not have heard of him, the Takashi name has stuck around with many future SB releases, usually deriving from this original colorway of black and metallic gold.
