With the untimely passing of one of the great legends in basketball, Jerry Buss was one of the most wonderful owners the NBA has ever seen. Mourning #sneakerholics will pay tribute by rocking the Lakers’ purple and gold while finding comfort in rooting on for their favorite team from the sunny state of California, even if the man running the show has passed. One of the more notable and popular fans of this storied franchise, Snoop Dogg aka Snoop Lion, always finds ways to make sure his favorite team is on display.  Before the name change, Snoop Lion released a collaboration with adidas to add to a long list of rappers forming partnerships with sneaker companies.  Releasing with the adidas “Originals” line, the Snoop Dogg x Freemont Mid was born.

The Snoop Dogg x adidas Originals Fremont Mid was released early in 2012 and was part of a feature to debut alongside NBA All-Star Weekend. With the classic “Doggystyle” eyes from the cover art of his debut album located on the tongue, Snoop’s influence in popular culture and love of the West Coast rap life is influenced throughout these kicks. A mainly black premium leather based model with a white sole, the classic look of these shoes highlight the influences in his life. The rear features a hint of gold while a subtle influence of purple throughout the sneaker represent the Lakers lifestyle he lived. The adidas Original’s logo is placed near the heel as a placard while the insole reads “My Season Never Ends”. Though the adidas Trefoil may only contain three leaves, it’s no surprise the rapper and trees seem to go hand in hand. A casual sneaker for the laidback Snoop Lion, these kicks are a great way to pay respect to Jerry Buss and his legendary status.
