We are now in the middle of Dia de los Muertos aka the Day of the Dead. The Mexican holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family who have passed on. Over the years we have seen a number of brands paying homage to the holiday but the focus for today is Vans Vault’s special pack from a couple of years back.
Vans Vault “Day of the Dead” SK8-Hi uploaded by GiammaSneakers
Consisting of both the Vans SK8-Hi and Slip-On, Vans Vault took a similar direction with each design. The SK8-Hi is seen above which is built on an upper that is a mixture of suede and canvas. The addition of illustrations in the form of skeleton heads and floral designs, images associated with the holiday, are added to the upper in white matching the classic vulcanized sole. Metal eyelets and black string laces finish off the look of the SK8-Hi.
The Slip-On design takes on a nearly identical build minus the eyelets and laces since it doesn’t need them. This particular sneaker is missing from the Wikipedia and would be a great addition to the archives. Which of the two do you prefer? Or maybe you have both, let us know!
