In the business of all things sneakers for over a decade, the team at Sneaker Freaker knows what works on sneakers. Over the years their numerous collaborations with various brands always find success and are highly sought after by many sneaker enthusiasts. That trend continued in 2010 with their “Alvin Purple” version of the popular Asics Gel Lyte III. The first time the two brands teamed up the most popular ASICS retro model was the obvious choice to kick off the partnership.

As always the team at Sneaker Freaker took design inspiration from something out of the ordinary. Cult Australian movie Alvin Purple and the man himself helped create the colorway of the sneaker. The premium build keeps it classy with materials frequently seen on runners. A healthy dose of suede and mesh are featured while leather appears on the stripes. Shades of grey, along with plenty of purple, are introduced into the design. Special highlights were the slightly speckled midsoles and multiple laces, including polka dots.
