Sneaker Spotlight: Nike SB Dunk Low Pro “Lodens”

Nike SB Dunk Low Pro “Lodens”

Back in 2002, Nike SB was still in its infancy and didn’t have releases in, say, pink or blue boxes. They came in normal Nike orange/brown cardboard. The sneakers didn’t even have the SB tag on the tongue back then. It was during this time that many simple two-tone designs of the Dunk Low Pro SB were being released from the brand. Nike kept the simple style of the original Dunk but added the fatter tongue and Zoom Air insoles for better skatability. Released in October of that year, the Fall colorway nicknamed the “Lodens” flew under the radar for the most part.

Suede uppers consisting of Dark Loden and black comprised most of the easygoing look of the sneaker. White Nike tags on the tag and heel along with the midsole completed the design of this second series Nike SB release. The one feature that stood out were the brown laces, added to complement the look of the sneaker. As years have passed the “Lodens” along with many early Nike SB products became increasingly popular and rare to find. What are your thoughts on this classic SB product, does it deserve its high status amongst SB collectors?
