Sneaker Showcase: Highs and Lows x New Balance “Night & Day” Pack

Highs and Lows x New Balance "Night & Day" Pack

To help commemorate their 5th anniversary Australian shop Highs and Lows (HAL) collaborated with New Balance on their own special pack to celebrate the affair. This dual collaboration consisted of two versions of the 577 model. The look and design for the sneakers came from the inspiration of “Night and Day” with the colors and hues taking a ying-yang type of look.

For the ‘Day’ version, the team at HAL took inspiration from the city of Perth’s bright blue skies and golden sunsets. The popular combination of Suede and mesh were the chosen materials to accommodate for the Summertime weather and temperatures.

The “Night” version of the 577 was, not surprisingly, done up in a dark tone and materials used to combat cooler temperatures and the darkness. A full grain leather upper is complimented with nubuck accenting, along with a healthy dose of 3M bits inspired by the starry nights of Perth.

“We wanted to create a shoe that’d accommodate the beach-side strolls, mid-day cookouts and streetside sundowners that all take place under our city’s blue skies and golden sun. When it came to the Night shoe, we agreed that the uncertainty of the evening called for a more stealthy approach and a little more solidarity in the materials. Therefore, the Night shoe became a black fullgrain leather and raw nubuck assassin with a breathable perforated toebox, 3M highlights and a little speckle thrown on the white sole to acknowledge the moon and stars that watch our every move after dark.”

Finished off with custom graphics and special HAL hangtags this 577 pack was one of the most sought after releases last year. Which version do you prefer, the “Day” or “Nights?”
