Turning 34 years old today, Kobe Bryant, aka the Black Mamba, will be entering his 17th year as a professional NBA player. Alongside Michael Jordan and LeBron James, Kobe has had a very successful run of sneakers with not one but two different brands. Deserving, as his accolade list includes statistics like 14-time All-Star, 9-time NBA All-Defensive First Team, 2-time Gold Medal Olympic winner and most importantly 5-time NBA Champion. Starting out with adidas with sneakers like the Kobe, Kobe II, KB8 (Crazy 8) and KB8 II, his move to Nike brought over big innovations like the Zoom KD IV with it’s low-cut build and the latest Kobe VII, which was a complete system with optional insert choices. With fellow 1996 draftee Steve Nash and Superman himself, Dwight Howard, joining the Lakers, the Kobe VIII might be the sneaker that sees the Black Mamba tie Michael Jordan with a sixth championship ring.
