Sneaker Showcase: Air Jordan 5 “Toro Bravo” Pack

Air Jordan 5 "Toro Bravo" Pack

In 2009, Jordan Brand released this special Toro Bravo pack featuring two new builds of the Air Jordan 5. Also nicknamed the “Raging Bull” pack, this two-pack was created using the inspiration of the Toro Bravo,  a special breed of bull used for the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona, Spain. The bull inspiration starts off with the special double box setup that features a faux-wood look created to look like the wooden gates that hold the bulls back before the run.

The first sneaker is the black based version of the Air Jordan 5. Made to represent the Toro Bravo itself with its stealth and strong look, much like Micheal Jordan himself. With a 23 on the heel and clear outsoles, the special treat of the sneaker was the usage of a reflective surface on not only the tongue but nearly the entire upper.

The second sneaker of the pack swaps out the reflective black upper of the first sneaker with supple red suede. The red represents not only the bandana that runners wear in Pamplona, but also Jordan’s deep passion for the game of basketball. This version of the Air Jordan 5 features many of the bits that make the model special including a reflective tongue, lace locks, translucent soles and colors of the Chicago bulls. Highly regarded as one of the best packs from Jordan Brand, how does this rank amongst all of their special packs?
