In 2008, Sneaker Freaker teamed up with Puma for a special duo of collaborative sneakers. The team didn’t want to follow the norm and do the “easy choice” of the Clyde or RS 100 but rather, dug deep into the Puma catalog to come up with the Blaze of Glory. The design comes from the base of the Disc Blaze but with upper utilizing a more traditional lacing system and not the PUMA Disc system of its predecessor. The Blaze of Glory is still rather unique with its plastic overlay and very minimal Puma branding, and it just so happened that Sneaker Freaker had their eyes set on it for the project.

Three versions of the sneaker were created, the first is seen here. Nicknamed the “Great White” after the shark that lines the coast of Australia, it bares a look that has a number of similarities to the shark. From the grey shades used on the upper, to the blue highlights on the sole like the ocean and pink bits like a shark’s gum. Each sneaker also came with three sets of laces, matching sharks tooth jewelery in cyan and red, two custom insoles and a Sneaker Freaker poster.

The second version of the sneaker to release to the public in limited quantities is this black-based version. This version was given the nickname of “Black Beast” and is a flip of color from the first version with turquoise and red highlighting. Just like the first version this pair was very popular in its limited run and came with the same add-ons as well. A special third pair was created from shark skin, looking very similar to the “Black Beast” version. This pair was only made for friends and family with only 40 pairs said to have been made. Some of the most sought after kicks from the Spring of 2008, less then 500 pairs of each colorway were created, Sneaker Freaker’s Blaze of Glory Pack is still highly sought after amongst collectors.
