Although combining sneakers is nothing new to the folks in Beaverton, in 2010 Nike pushed the hybrid theory with a variety of new concepts. Lunarlon was becoming the popular cushioning system at the time and one of the new hybrid models created was the Lunar Woven Chukka. To help unleash the new model to the world, Nike decided released two special quickstrike versions of the model seen here.

The 1990’s were a unique time for not only sneakers but in music as well. To commemorate some of the most popular musical acts that didn’t make it into the 2000’s Nike SB released a special Fallen Heroes pack in 2007. The sneakers in the pack consisted of a Dunk for Milli Vanilli, a Classic for M.C. Hammer and the Blazer High featured here for Vanilla Ice.

Sneakerpedia Twitter Sneaker Showcase

The last week was not only a big one for Sneakerpedia, thanks to Crate of the Month, but sneaker releases as well. Loads of sneakers were released with the Reebok Question being on of the most popular. So when #sneakerholic @KhalidM88‘s picture was randomly chosen for the Twitter Showcase the decision to make it the lead picture was a no-brainer. Now that the Showcase is into it’s second year every week we see more and more entries. More entries means it’s harder to make it in but also means more variety, brands, models and users. Larry Bird of the Boston Celtics, also known as Larry Legend, was exactly that on the court but the trash-talking sharp-shooter is also remembered for one of the greatest sneaker marketing campaigns of all-time, the Converse “Choose Your Weapon” campaign alongside rival Magic Johnson. 25 years ago today one of the greatest players in NBA History added another unforgettable moment to his list of accomplishments.
