Kareem Abdul-Jabbar adidas

Today we celebrate the birthday of the top scoring player in NBA History, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. During his legendary career with the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers, Lew Alcindor, also known as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, won 6 World Championships and 6 regular season MVP Awards. The 19-time NBA All-Star also made his mark on sneaker enthusiasts long before sneakers became popular.

In 1971, adidas partnered with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for one of the earliest signature model sneakers. The adidas Jabbar released in low-top and high-top versions with an advertising campaign that included Sports Illustrated appearances and is considered by many one of the first celebrity endorsements in the world of sneakers.

The Jabbar signature model was one of the earliest leather basketball shoes for adidas and has released numerous times since initially releasing. The silhouette was popular for on-court play in the 1970s and became popular in the 1980s with the “b-boy” trend. With Kareem’s legendary career and accomplishments, the adidas Jabbar has remained something that is popular with collectors and only a few have made their way onto the wiki.

If you have any of the adidas Jabbar models, be sure to let us know if you can help us out with an upload.
