In 2005, adidas celebrated the 35th Anniversary of the Superstar with one of the most unforgettable campaigns in sneaker history. To celebrate the 35 years of the Superstar, adidas created a series of shoes for each of the influential cultures that the adidas and the Superstar had been a part of or been influenced by.
The 5 series were categorized as Expression, Music, Consortium, Cities and the Anniversary Series. The Expression series focused on artists, ranging from Disney to Andy Warhol, and produced some of the most bold and memorable colorways.

The Cities series paid tribute to some of the greatest cities in the world, such as Berlin, New York City and Tokyo. The designs featured city-inspired colorways with the Trefoil logo replacing the heart in the popular saying, proclaiming “I Heart Berlin” placed on the heel.
