After hitting up Orlando and Miami, Florida last weekend, the Dunkxchange traveling sneaker event is heading to the west coast this weekend. Both Southern California and Northern California #sneakerholics will get a chance to kick it with other sneaker enthusiasts. While down in Texas, one of the most popular semi-annual sneaker events in the USA will be going down at the Reliant Center in Houston, Texas.

The H-Town Sneaker Summit is known to bring out some of the most well known sneaker enthusiasts from all over the Southern United States. This year’s winter event, held Sunday, January 29th, is sure to do the same. The event runs from 3pm until 8pm and we hear there will not only be plenty of entertainment at the event itself but at before and after parties as well.

For SoCal, Orange County to be exact, the Dunkxchange takes place in Fullerton at Cantina Lounge in Fullerton on Saturday, January 28th. The event runs from 12-5pm with DJ Ernie G and DJ Episode providing music for guests. Get there early for a t-shirt giveaway from IMKING to the first 25 people. For NorCal, San Francisco’s NV is the place to be on Sunday, January 29th. For this event, “swag bags” and new laces for your sneakers will be handed out courtesy of Fully Laced. The SF Dunkxchange event runs from 1pm-6pm.

Sneaker Spotlight: Visvim FBT Bison

In the mid-2000’s, the sneaker community seemed to hit a dull spot when it came to creativity. Not to say there were not plenty of creative designs being put out by the brands, there definitely were. However, a lot of the new creations were just reworked colorways of models that we all had in the closet. For some sneaker enthusiasts, this was when the search for unique designs began to really become about putting in the work to locate those rare kicks.

In 2004, Japanese brands like Visvim began to fill that void for #sneakerholics looking for something a little outside of the box. One of the styles that stood out from the rest was a January 2004 release, the Bison version of the Visvim FBT. This colorway from the wiki originally started appearing on the internet in 2004 and was met with some really mixed reviews. For one, there wasn’t much in the form of sneaker blogs back then, with a few exceptions. Secondly, even the message forums were often specifically catering to the major brands. This meant that when the wild print and unique silhouette began showing up, it was instantly a love it or hate it style for most.

The premium price of the Visvim line keeps many sneaker enthusiasts away from the designs but the high quality and attention to detail is arguably one of the best available. The Visvim FBT Bison has released a number of times since then in both the black shown here, and the beige colorway. To some, it’s at the top of the wish list but to others, it’s an easy pass. Where does it stand for you?

If you’re one of the #sneakerholics that has a pair of the off-white/beige versions of the Visvim FBT Bison, we’d love to have it uploaded on the wiki! Please let us know in the comments or via Twitter if you can help us out!

Happy Chinese New Year! It is now the year of the Dragon, the legendary and powerful creature. The Chinese zodiac has many similar features to the astrological zodiac, the main feature being both use 12 symbols/animals in its cycle. However, the Chinese zodiac differs greatly due to being based on a mathematical calendar, hence it’s the actual day that Chinese New Year takes place changes every year when translated to the modern calendar. Sneaker brands have used Chinese New Year as inspiration for special releases for many years, many of which are on the wiki. Continue reading
