August 8th of 2004, Paul Rodriguez showed the world just how good he is when he puts his Nike’s to the grip tape, and he did in his own hometown, in front of a huge TV audience.

For sneakerholics, it wasn’t just the show he put on that won him the Gold Medal in X-Games Street class at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles, it was an unseen pair Nike SB Dunks that had everyone buzzing. The Dunks on his feet wouldn’t be seen much for the next 9 months, but after they released on the 5th of May, 2005, the Cinco De Mayo Dunks would become one of the most collectible Nike SB’s.
